CONVERSATIONS ON: Supporting tamariki social and emotional competence! This workshop is the final in the series of workshops focusing on 'Supporting Young Children’s Social and Emotional Competence'. “Learning and behaviour go hand in hand. Self-regulated, self-managing behaviours help children make the most of opportunities to learn” (p 67 He māpuna te tamaiti) Previous sessions have focused on discussing the multi-faceted nature of young children's social and emotional competence. This final session draws these themes together to a more practical level by acknowledging the importance of a responsive environment to make the most of children’s opportunities to learn- in particular kaiako will explore the importance of a rich, varied curriculum, how to support participation, engagement and transitions as well as supporting children to develop their capability to self-manage. PRESENTED BY EXPERIENCED PD FACILITATOR LOUISE STRODE – PENNY. Louise has over 3 decades of experience in a variety of roles including teaching, leadership, lecturing and mentoring both in New Zealand and Australia. She looks forward to sharing her insight with you to strengthen teacher practices.
